GANDHINAGAR, GUJARAT | 17th AUGUST 2026 | QS I-GAUGE, India’s independent educational institution rating and assessment system, will host the prestigious National Summit on AI in Indian Education in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on August 20 and 21, 2026, bringing together a plethora of key stakeholders on a single platform.

The two-day leadership summit will be held at The Leela Gandhinagar, featuring senior leaders from the higher education and K-12 education space, policymakers, industry experts, technology leaders, and quality assurance specialists. The designated theme for the event is “Advancing Responsible AI for Access, Equity, and Excellence,” and the summit is expected to deliberate on the opportunities, challenges, and institutional frameworks required for responsible AI adoption in Indian education. Guest of honour Shri Trikambhai Chhanga, Hon’ble Minister of State, Higher and Technical Education, Government of Gujarat, will address the gathering on the opening day.

With the help of IndiaAI Mission, backed by a national outlay of ₹10,372 crore, adoption of AI has been growing across sectors. This has accelerated the demand for future-ready skills, and educational institutions have to now move beyond awareness and experimentation towards structured and quality-focused AI integration.

India’s education system operates at an unparalleled scale, with nearly 44.6 million students enrolled in higher education and more than 1.4 million schools serving around 240 million students. India’s AI market, meanwhile is projected to reach USD 17 billion by 2027, underscoring the growing importance of preparing students, educators, faculty, and institutional leaders for an AI-enabled future.

Panel discussions and leadership roundtables at the summit will examine AI’s impact on teaching, learning, assessment, research, governance, quality assurance, employability, and student wellbeing.

“The National Summit on AI in Indian Education is envisioned as a platform for education leaders to collectively shape a responsible and quality-driven approach to AI adoption. Institutions need to consider questions of access, ethics, academic integrity, data protection, faculty preparedness, and measurable educational impact,” said Mr. Ravin Nair, Managing Director, QS I-GAUGE.

Day One (August 20) will focus on examining how institutions can respond to the rapid adoption of AI across teaching, assessment, research, governance, and student support. The programme will feature special addresses by Prof. Dr. Jagdish S. Joshi, Vice Chancellor, Gujarat University; Prof. Dr. Bharat Bhasker, Director, IIM Ahmedabad; and Mr. Sudhir Nainswati, President, GLS University, along with a QS Chair Address by Dr. Ashwin Fernandes, Chair, QS India and Vice President, QS.

Key discussions will include democratising AI and ensuring equitable access in higher education, managing costs and securing data, enhancing teaching through AI, maintaining academic integrity and human judgement, and preparing graduates for an AI-driven workforce.

The day will conclude with a valedictory and QS I-GAUGE Award Ceremony, recognising 90 plus institutions rated by QS I-GAUGE for their academic or educational excellence.

Day Two (August 21) will focus on AI integration in school education, with particular emphasis on children and young learners. Discussions will explore AI-powered quality assurance, sustainable AI adoption in schools, student wellbeing, teacher preparedness, assessment redesign, parent trust, data privacy, and institutional AI governance.

The roundtables will focus on leading future-ready schools in an AI-enabled environment and building policies for safe, ethical and responsible AI adoption. The summit will consequently shift the conversation from simply increasing AI tool usage to building institutional readiness, robust governance, quality assurance, inclusive access and measurable educational outcomes.

Through two days of dialogue, QS I-GAUGE aims to facilitate a shared understanding among education stakeholders on how India can harness AI as an enabler of educational excellence while keeping equity, ethics, human judgement and student wellbeing at the centre of the transformation.
