GUJARAT, AHMEDABAD | 15th DECEMBER 2025 — The Rotary Club of Ahmedabad Skyline, in association with HCG Aastha Cancer Centre, will organise “The Walk of Courage”, a charity fashion show by cancer survivors, as part of a large-scale awareness initiative focused on cervical cancer prevention and HPV vaccination. The walk will take place at Krystal Party Plot in Ahmedabad from 5:00 pm onwards on December 21.
Organised under Rotary District 3055, the event will bring together 70 to 80 cancer survivors from across the state, who will walk the ramp in a celebration of strength and healing. The initiative also aims to mobilise support for providing HPV vaccination to more than 5,000 underprivileged girls, addressing one of the most preventable yet prevalent cancers among women.
Cervical cancer can be prevented in over 95% of cases through timely HPV vaccination. However, limited awareness and affordability continue to leave a large number of young girls unprotected. The Walk of Courage seeks to address this gap by combining survivor empowerment with a strong public health message.
Dr. DG Vijay, Director HCG Aastha Cancer Centre and chief surgical Breast oncology, said, “As oncologists, we see every day how early prevention and timely intervention can save lives. Cervical cancer is largely preventable, and HPV vaccination is a proven safeguard. This initiative carries a powerful message of prevention and hope. It not only celebrates survivors but also takes a crucial step towards protecting the next generation.”
Project Chair Rotarian Rekha Kabra said the event goes beyond a fashion show. “The Walk of Courage is about restoring confidence to survivors and converting public participation into tangible health outcomes. Every registration directly supports HPV vaccination for girls who would otherwise not have access to it. The initiative is part of our broader public health outreach,” she said.
Co-Chair Rotarian Dr. Archana Shah said, “This initiative aims to create awareness, remove stigma, and encourage preventive healthcare. When survivors walk the ramp, they inspire society to talk openly about cancer and act early.”
Registration for the initiative is now open. The registration fee for an individual participant is Rs. 2,500, while a regular table for six guests is priced at Rs. 12,999, and a VIP table for six guests at Rs. 19,999. The proceeds will be directed towards HPV vaccination.
