Unpacking Ahmedabad’s year of mindful carts, fresh produce, and flavour-forward choices
GUJARAT, AHMEDABAD | 22nd DECEMBER 2025 — Long known for its heritage, food-forward culture, and love for homegrown flavours, Ahmedabad is also showing how quick commerce can be thoughtful. As Instamart, India’s pioneering quick commerce platform, unveils insights from the fifth edition of its annual report — How India Instamarted 2025 — the data shows that from fresh produce to flagship smartphones, Ahmedabad’s carts moved at lightning speed in 2025 — including over seven iPhone 17 deliveries completed in under three minutes during Instamart’s Quick India Movement sale in September 2025.

This year, Ahmedabad’s shopping was driven less by impulse and more by intent. The city’s most-ordered items spanned premium dairy, fresh pulses, fruits, trusted cooking oils, and select global staples, signalling a clear shift towards planned, routine-led shopping, delivered in10-minutes. From Udon Noodles to Kesar Shrikhand , Curd, fresh green gram, hara chana, pineapples, and even Cottonseed Oil, Ahmedabad’s Instamart orders reflected a deliberate mix of global tastes, trusted local brands, and fresh ingredients. The carts tell a story of clarity, where speed meets choice, not compromise.
Unlike cities driven primarily by snacking spikes, Ahmedabad’s carts leaned into everyday cooking and nourishment. Pulses, dairy essentials, and fruits featured prominently, pointing to a city that uses quick commerce to support home-style meals, festive traditions, and mindful eating — all without slowing down.
“Quick commerce in India has moved beyond just convenience. It’s not just a service, but a part of the modern Indian lifestyle. What started as last-minute top-ups and impulse buys now includes planned purchases and even big-ticket spending, from daily essentials to premium treats. Instamart is proving to be a trusted partner for everything people need, whether it’s urgent, indulgent, or just part of their routine, all delivered with the speed and reliability they expect from us.” — Hari Kumar G, Chief Business Officer, Swiggy
What Ahmedabad Instamart’d in 2025
- Ahmedabad’s carts consistently reflected purpose-driven choices. Speciality noodles, premium dairy, and familiar cooking oils pointed to need-based shopping rather than impulse fills.
- Dairy remained central. Kesar Shrikhand and Curd featured strongly, reinforcing the city’s deep connection to dairy-rich meals and traditional flavours.
- Fresh produce mattered. Orders for green gram, hara chana, and pineapples highlighted a growing preference for freshness — delivered at quick-commerce speed.
- And while rooted in tradition, Ahmedabad stayed open to experimentation. Global products like Moi Soi Udon Noodles found space alongside local staples, showing how the city blends comfort with curiosity.
Meanwhile, the rest of India in 2025 wasn’t just shopping; it was optimising everyday life with Instamart. Milk emerged as the country’s #1 essential, with India ordering 4+ packets of milk per second; enough to fill 26,000 Olympic-sized pools. India also shopped big with a user in Hyderabad who placed the single largest cart of the year at ₹4.3 lakh, checking out with three iPhone 17 Pros.
