IntelliSmart Inaugurates Centre of Excellence in Palsana to Power India’s Next Generation of Energy Professionals

  • Initiative aims to develop future-ready energy professionals and strengthen India’s digital power infrastructure

PALSANA (SURAT) | 10th JULY 2026 | IntelliSmart Infrastructure, India’s leading digital infrastructure company, in line with its commitment to building the human capital needed to power the USD 30 Billion distribution sector growth in the coming years, has launched its fourth Centre of Excellence (CoE) for training in smart metering in Palsana in Surat district of Gujarat. IntelliSmart inaugurated its first CoE in Dadri, Uttar Pradesh, on 5 June 2025, and has so far trained 1,630 individuals. The second and third CoE was inaugurated in Meerut and Bareilly last week.

The Centre of Excellence at Palsana was inaugurated by Shri N.G. Patel, Additional Chief Engineer of Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (DGVCL).

The CoE aims to equip youths with practical, hands-on training in the installation and configuration of DT meters, a process that is complex and high-risk, requiring trained and certified professionals. Additionally, the CoE will train youths in the skills that India’s energy transition demands such as meter installation (consumer meter, distribution transformer meter and feeder meter) and move forward to solar rooftop systems, renewable integration and accurate demand projections. The training is completely free of cost and candidates from anywhere in India can avail of the training at the CoE. After completion of the free training, candidates have the option to work as a meter installer with AMISP of their choice anywhere in India or join IntelliSmart, making the CoE a direct pathway from training to employment in one of India’s fastest-growing sectors.

Speaking on the development, Shri Anil Rawal, MD & CEO, IntelliSmart, said, “India’s energy transition will not be won on technology alone. It will be won by the people who can deploy it, manage it and scale it. As India races toward 500 GW of renewable energy and 250 million smart meters, we are investing in the human capital that makes both possible, training a new generation of energy professionals with the mission critical skills this transition demands and the careers it can sustain.”

The training at the CoE covers a comprehensive range of programmes including consumer indexing, meter installation trainings, DT metering trainings, operations and maintenance trainings, behavioural trainings, concluding with a two-day certification process.

As India accelerates its push toward 250 million smart meters under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), the availability of trained, certified technicians and energy professionals is critical to maintaining deployment momentum and operational excellence on the ground.

The training program is open to individuals aged 18 years and above who hold qualifications such as ITI, Diploma, or B.Tech. Participants will undergo an intensive one-day training, followed by a one-hour assessment. On successful completion, they will receive a certification that boosts their workability in the energy sector.
