AHMEDABAD, GUJARAT | 14th JUNE 2026 | Around 100 cancer patients, survivors and caregivers participated in a cancer awareness event organised by Manage Health Foundation at the Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA) on Saturday, where experts highlighted the importance of cancer prevention, early detection and caregiver support.
The Ahmedabad Cancer Blueprint 2026 featured an informative session by Dr. Chirag Shah, Director of Shyam Hem-Onc Clinic and Director of the Department of Hemato-Oncology at Apollo Hospitals, Ahmedabad.
In his address, Dr. Shah spoke about cancer awareness and prevention, the importance of timely screening and early diagnosis, and the need to create greater public awareness about the disease. He also highlighted the critical role of caregivers and emphasised the importance of supporting their physical, emotional and mental well-being.
“While much attention is rightly focused on patients, caregivers are often the invisible pillars of the cancer journey. Their dedication, strength and emotional support have a deep impact on a patient’s treatment and recovery. Empowering caregivers with the right information, guidance and support is essential for better outcomes. Equally important is creating awareness about cancer prevention and encouraging regular screening for early detection,” said Dr. Shah.
The programme saw cancer survivors and caregivers sharing their personal experiences, challenges and learnings. Their stories offered insights and encouragement to others facing similar situations, while highlighting the importance of support and positivity during the treatment journey. *They also spoke about health diet, right amount of sleep and regular physical exercises for good overall health.*
The event focused on community outreach and public health initiatives aimed at increasing awareness about cancer prevention and promoting healthier lifestyles. Participants actively engaged in an interactive question-and-answer session.
The programme concluded with a strong message that proper awareness and empowered caregivers play a vital role in supporting patients and improving the overall cancer care journey.
