  • AM/NS India and NAMTECH to drive industry-led transformation of five Government ITIs in Surat region
  • 25,000+ youth to benefit from future-ready training, apprenticeships and employment pathways

SURAT, GUJARAT | 07th JULY 2026 | ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has been selected as the Anchor Industry Partner for the Surat ITI Cluster under the Government of India’s flagship Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU) initiative, following approval of the Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) by the National Steering Committee chaired by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).

The approval comes as the Government of India has cleared the nationwide rollout of PM-SETU across all 200 identified ITI clusters, marking a significant step towards strengthening India’s vocational education ecosystem through industry-led partnerships.

In Gujarat, the approved Surat cluster comprises Government ITI Surat as the Hub Institute, supported by four spoke institutes—Government ITI Hajira, Government ITI Bardoli, Government ITI Sachin and Government ITI Surat (Women). The Strategic Investment Plan has an approved outlay of ₹240.18 crore over five years.

AM/NS India will implement the project in partnership with New Age Makers’ Institute of Technology (NAMTECH), bringing together industry expertise and academic excellence to create a future-ready workforce aligned with India’s manufacturing and industrial growth ambitions.

Commenting on the approval, Mr. Ashutosh Telang, Director and Vice President – HR & Administration, AM/NS India, said: “The approval of the Surat ITI Cluster under PM-SETU is a significant milestone for Gujarat’s skilling ecosystem and reinforces the power of collaboration between government, industry and academia. Gujarat is home to AM/NS India’s flagship steel manufacturing complex at Hazira, and we are proud to contribute to strengthening the state’s future workforce through this transformative initiative. As India’s manufacturing sector continues to expand, initiatives such as PM-SETU will play a critical role in equipping young people with the skills needed for the industries of tomorrow and supporting the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.”

The Gujarat approval further strengthens AM/NS India’s leadership role in India’s skilling transformation journey. Last month, AM/NS India became the first company in India to receive approval for a Strategic Investment Plan under PM-SETU, serving as Anchor Industry Partner for the Visakhapatnam ITI Cluster in Andhra Pradesh.
